A $130 million, 22-megawatt solar plant is going to be built in New Mexico, the Las Cruces Sun-News reports. Congressman Harry Teague announced the plant, to be built by BP Solar and EnergyNovo, at the Re-Energize New Mexico conference where U.S. Secretary of Energy Stephen Chu spoke.

“It’s clean power, it doesn’t use water, and it will create good jobs for New Mexico,” Teague said, according to the Sun-News. “We’re bringing companies from outside New Mexico to partner with local companies to take advantage of our resources.”

While there is no formal agreement in place, both BP Solar and EnergyNovo hope to provide power to Spaceport America, a private spaceport which broke ground this summer. The plant also hopes to provide “residential entities” with power.
