While environmental activists played their part yesterday during demonstrations at the capitol building, going so far as to dress up as solar panels and to sing the tune of “You Are My Sunshine,” their counterparts, the anti-cap-and-trade contingency who has…
Roughly one quarter of University of New Mexico students are unimpressed with the state’s flagship public school, according to a survey that questioned college students about their higher education experiences.
Organizing For America, a project of the Democratic National Committee, is airing ads on cable praising Congressman Martin Heinrich, D-Albuquerque, for his work on health care reform, The Hill reports.
Heinrich, who lists the public option as one of his “principles for health care reform” on his Web site, so far has drawn Republican Jon Barela as a challenger.
“There is one thing that is not in dispute,” the ad says, “Congressman Martin Heinrich is fighting for us and working to fix our health care system.”
In addition to Heinrich, Organizing for America will air ads in defense of Reps. Ben Chandler, D-Ky., Travis Childers, D-Miss., and Zack Space, D-Ohio.
The other Democrats are in significantly more conservative districts; Heinrich’s 1st Congressional District is the only district out of the four with a Democratic Cook Partisan Voting Index number (a number based election results for the previous two presidential election cycles).
In fact, the other three are Blue Dog Democrats.
While the ads for Heinrich and Space are on the subject of health care reform, the subject of the ads on Chandler and Childers are on the stimulus package.
