"Has the court’s conservative majority been corrupted by invisible corporate forces?"

Do you mean like Obama has been corrupted by Big Pharma, Wall Street and how Congress is owned by Archer Daniels Midland?

V.B. a very good article and definite food for thought. If we could only get you to focus on the egregious waste of above ground reservoir storage of water in the deserts, you and I might cease to disagree.

I think you touched on the most important of this argument in the area of the juristic person. It is unfathomable to think that at the drafting of the Constitution that its composers intended for the Bill of Rights to able to a corporation or organization. Case in point, you never hear of an organizational right to own a gun. Nobody makes the argument that a 501 (c) 3 should be allowed to own a gun. Why because very simply that is a right of the individual, just as you point out speech is. There should be no argument that a collective is entitled to an individual right. A strong argument can be made that a individual should be allowed to give and spend there money in politics without limit, but you most certainly cannot stretch that logic to allow a group of individuals that same right. Campaign contributions should limited to individual contributions and corporate intervention in politics should be strongly discouraged.

Regards the role of propaganda in American society see Edward Louis Bernays (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Bernays), who was a pioneer in the field of engineering public opinion, which he felt was a necessary part of democracy - as per the following from "Propaganda", which he published in 1928.

"The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. ...We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. This is a logical result of the way in which our democratic society is organized. Vast numbers of human beings must cooperate in this manner if they are to live together as a smoothly functioning society. ...In almost every act of our daily lives, whether in the sphere of politics or business, in our social conduct or our ethical thinking, we are dominated by the relatively small number of persons...who understand the mental processes and social patterns of the masses. It is they who pull the wires which control the public mind.
...If we understand the mechanism and motives of the group mind, is it not possible to control and regiment the masses according to our will without their knowing about it? The recent practice of propaganda has proved that it is possible, at least up to a certain point and within certain limits."

Not to mention churches... which campaign for far-right political agendas while enjoying IRS immunity. And no property taxes! Somehow religion is sacrosanct (pun intended) when it comes to taxation, even though they abrogated their religious focus ever since Reagan inducted churches into politics. This policy alone is unfair to every taxpaying citizen.
