House Democrats want clarification on illegal immigrants and the healthcare debate. They ask: “How can the plan stop illegal immigrants from buying insurance with their own money from a government-created marketplace.”

The Valencia County News Bulletin brings news of more than 4,200 local signatures asking the county’s bureau of elections to bring a recently-approved gross receipts tax to a public vote.

Highlands University is buying two nearby properties, according to the Las Vegas Optic. University officials plan to use the properties to serve social life and other student needs.

The Deming Headlight reports on Gov. Bill Richardson’s appointment of Dem. Debra French to a vacant Luna County Commission seat. Richardson calls her “a refreshing addition” and praises her background in education and knowledge of the border, unemployment, and agriculture.
