“I’ve been told people have come in who are obese, and that is a life choice,” Kintigh said."

Leave it to the Republicans and their "personal responsibility" BS. Many poor people are obese becasue high, empty calorie food is all they can afford on food stamps which are usually inadequate for nutritional needs.

One solution to the obesity problem and also to the rise in medical costs would be a government funded education program on nutrition. If you eat right, you aren't hungry all the time and don't sit around in front of the TEEVEE snacking.
If we want to fix why Americans are so unhealthy, it would be good to stop blaming the victims of capitalism and start trying to educate people. Even the doctors don't know anything about nutrition...most of them anyway
Republicans always think people are making informed choices when the level of education on nearly everything has dropped in this country thanks to them who want an ignorant population and someone to blame. No wonder people don't trust the government.

What are we ranked for in literacy in this country? http://www.warriorlibrarian.com/CURRICULUM/glob... I've heard that 40% of adults read at a 4th grade level and 40% of them have trouble comprehending what they read. This is a national disaster and has lead US to be able to be easily manipulated by demagogues and crooks.
But, it's all about "choice" isn't it??? Republicans..and some Democrats now too.

So, by all means throw the poor under the bus. they don't DESERVE anything because of their "choices".

Stop the TIIDDs NOW. Rescind the Bush era tax cuts for the top 1% and stop taking everything out on the poor in Shock Doctrine style.
The problem isn't Medicaid; the problem is supply side economics and corruption in allowing the HMOs to get into the act, thereby increasing the costs and gettin between patients and their doctors.
Medicaid is already cut to the bone and most social services are being sucked up by illegals that this government allowed in for cheap labor for the, mostly our of state, corporations.
