Get your (debate) party on tonight

By | 10.07.08 | 5:40 pm

Tuesdays are usually not the best nights for socializing. There is a reason why many bars have $2 specials on Tuesday nights.

But tonight, there will be hundreds of parties around the nation. All to gather around and watch a debate. On TV.

The 7 p.m. town hall-style presidential debate from Nashville, Tenn., is a must-see TV event for many voters — both partisans and undecideds. So if you’re at work and want somewhere to unwind while watching the presidential debate, here are a few options.

The official John McCain watch party will be at the New Mexico McCain campaign headquarters at 5643 Jefferson NE, Suites B & C. Rep. Heather Wilson, a prominent national surrogate for John McCain, will be in attendance.

Meanwhile, an Obama watch party will be at 301 Central at the One Up Lounge and Restaurant. State Auditor Hector Baldera will attend the event.

But if you’re a McCain supporter and going to campaign headquarters or a bar isn’t your cup of tea, you can find your own events around the state (and nation). The only other debate watch party in the area on the McCain Web site seems to be a Sandoval County watch party.

For the Obama event, go here. The only debate watch party in the Albuquerque area on the Obama Web site list looks to be the Obama Mama debate watch party.
