I do not nor will I ever understand why NOT believing in the supernatural is regarded as evidence of a moral failing, or as being unacceptably out of sync with the world to so many people. Why should accusing your opponent in an election of not believing in any god be a useful tactic to win?

This is the first time I'm hearing about this… and it's quite saddening for two reasons: the first is that atheism is still abhorrent to so many that politicians can use it as a dirty word… and the second is that somebody who is actively involved in a spiritual community can (in Don Harris's eyes anyway) still be so utterly rejected by other spiritual communities. How much more division and hate can this country take?

Why is it such a taboo to NOT believe in supernatural beings in this society? That is so confusing to me.
