U.S. House to unveil health care bill Thursday

By | 10.29.09 | 6:00 am

The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to introduce a health care reform bill on Thursday, the Washington Post says. The bill will include a public option, as many had expected.

Nancy Pelosi and House leadership are scheduled to introduce the bill today at 8:30 a.m. New Mexico time (10:30 Eastern Time).

The public option included, however, will not be the most “robust” of the options being discussed. As The Washington Post reports:

Senior Democratic House aides said the bill would likely include a version of the “public option” preferred by moderates and may raise Medicaid eligibility levels to 150 percent of the federal poverty level for all adults, a steeper increase than in earlier drafts.

With the Senate version unveiled earlier this week, it appears health care reform is entering its end game.
