I agree with your post for the most part. The comment on courts and executive branch driving revenue generators out of the state makes me question your sincerity. Trust me, no one id driving them away.

And as for education, New Mexicans know the value more so than other states. We need the PUBLIC EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM. We must have it, that is the ONLY way we can educate all New Mexicans, and I do mean all.

And we New Mexicans need to keep the public educational system viable. Whatever the cost.

Everyone values education, there isn't a monopoly on that - there are clearly disagreements on how we provide that education and doing more of the same with more money is silly. This is one of those teachable moments ... and as Rahm Emanuel said, never let a good crisis go to waste. We need good teachers - they are a national treasure .... but we need to unfetter them a bit from the morass of regulation that has built up over the past 30+ years. You're comment about the shortfall is spot on ... and it is going to get worse as our courts and the executive branch drive revenue generators out of the State while at the same time padding their own pockets. We need change we can believe in ...

It is teachers jobs that are carrying our economy. You bet we should all be concerned about these jobs. You say that education is a failure but I don't think that is true. Our teachers work hard and do an excellent job.
It is our self indulgence consumer self gratifying that has failed our children.

Mr. Lujan hit the nail on the head. The Democrats are their (education) only friends. Do not make threats like this. The cuts will be deep and across the board. a billion shortfall will hurt everyone.

Since when has Christine Trujillo cared about education? It is a meal ticket for her and her union cronies who only care about jobs. That is it. We have seriouis problems and we need serious people, not union mouth pieces, to handle them. Cut to the chase- what New Mexico (and if you want to believe them, the teachers union) has been doing for forty years hasn't worked and we have high school drop outs and graduates who aren't educated! Continuing to do what you've always done and expect different results is lunacy. The way we look at education HAS to change. The comment Representative Miera made (good man that he is) points the damning figure back at the teachers union had helps make my point - the union doesn't care about education, they care about their income stream. There is a difference.
