Rodellas Charged in Tattoo Parlor Attack

Brothers Eugene and Gabriel Rodella have been charged with four misdemeanors each in connection with an Oct. 7 incident at the Dragon’s Lair Hookah Lounge and Defiant Artists Tattoo Parlor, according to criminal complaints filed in Rio Arriba County Magistrate Court.
Gabriel Rodella, 23, of Alcalde, has been charged with two counts of battery for allegedly attacking business co-owners Christopher Whitsell and Marlo Gray, one count of criminal damage for causing damage to the tattoo parlor and one count of criminal trespass. Eugene Rodella’s charges only differ from Gabriel Rodella’s in that the former was charged with one count of battery against only Gray and one count of assault against Gray.
Eugene Rodella, 40, of Hernandez, was an Española Police officer at the time of the incident. He was terminated late last year but is appealing his termination.
Both Rodellas have been summoned to appear Feb. 22 at 8:30 a.m. in magistrate court.
