Three city council seats are up for grabs in Las Cruces on Tuesday, and the New Mexico Independent plans to blog live as the results come in. Join us starting at 6:30 p.m.
This is an important election in the state’s second-largest city. The question is whether progressives who took control of the council in 2007 will be able to keep their majority or will lose it.
So far there have been complaints about the fundraising efforts of a local political action committee, which said it was raising money for the election, then didn’t spend any—then did.
In another development, the Las Cruces Sun-News incorrectly identified Gil Jones, the Las Cruces District 5 city councilor, as a Republican. The error was corrected the following day, but will voters be confused?
We’ll start blogging at 6:30 p.m. Polls will close at 7 p.m., and we’ll start getting results sometime after that.
