Welcome to "The World According to Richardson"! At his behest he now decides that "double-dipping" should be done away with? And he says that he wanted to get some analysis from one of his famous "task forces" before considering legislation. Ahh, Bill, your task force has had one public meeting on the issue! And you think your state personnel director can lead on this issue? Come in for a landing...please!!!

Well this is a start at least.

If the governor doesn't make the current double dippers pay into their retirement fund, there will not be $7,000,000 in savings. This must be done, they can't grandfather the current ones in and have any savings.

I would hope that the governor and legislature would just kill the entire double dipping law, effective July 1 2010. That way the current double dippers would have 6 months to make up their minds. They can retire before July 1 and keep their pensions coming, or they can suspend their pensions and keep working. The choice would be theirs.

WE DON"T NEED THEM TO BE GRANDFATHERED!
