Six years after the state repealed tax on groceries, lawmakers are looking at options to resurrect the tax in the face of our state budget deficit, The Santa Fe New Mexican reports .
The Las Cruces City Council is considering a ban on cell phone use while driving, according to the Las Cruces Sun-News. Many residents stand behind the ban, as it is a safety issue, while others believe it’s an extreme move for the city to make money.

The AP gives a brief account of a car accident that involved Vice President Joe Biden’s motorcade. A woman tried to drive around police vehicles and crashed into the deputy’s car. The officer is reported as having no visible injuries. This comes several years after an officer died while escorting President George W. Bush.
