Get real, Trip. You are writing on the Web. How do you know readers are "lucky they don't live in (another state)." You don't know where we live. You are using cheap marketing rhetoric to build familiarity with your audience, while offending against the precise use of language in public forums.

It's almost as if you don't want the public do develop skills for powerful, accurate language. Why? Are you afraid of what might happen if we had thousands of readers equipped as I am to confront punditry-as-journalism at every turn?

The facts, if you would bother to look beyond whatever press release you cooked into this latest opinion/news, indicate New Mexico has lost revenue faster most other states. This very week, your organization was presented detailed public information showing exactly where in the state the revenue losses hit hardest. Why don't your readers have access to this info?

Pain is always relative when we ignore the one suffering the pain. For some, pain matters relatively none once they've turned the corner from the street where they indifferently stepped over the starving beggars. For others, pain matters none whatsoever as they rob the beggar of his last coins.

Why not tell us how much future federal highway money was dedicated to Bill Richardson's "build the train before the presedential election" project? How much was tied up into his other presidential campaign initiative, in which he affixed his political brand name to our tax dollars in "Governor Richardsons Improvement Projects" or "GRIP"
http://nmgrip.com/

Oh, with some real digital skills and the will to fight a censorial state government, you could tell us how much money those contractors donated back to his campaigns. But you don't know SQL or any other database language, do you, Trip? Do you even have any basic HTML skills? Hopefully you at least know how to use a spreadsheet, but we've never seen any evidence of your digital analysis skills anywhere in your published work, which apparently has as much to do with kayacking on junkets to New Guinea as it does with saving civic journalism in the midst of a historic crisis. How much greenhouse gas did your airliner spew on it's way to the other side of the world where you enjoyed your exotic vacation?

Where does that leave you, Trip? You don't feel whose pain, and relative to what?

Yeah, I tend to run off at the mouth - in this instance because Palin's record clearly indicates she opposes women's rights but she still gets away with pulling the wool over people's eyes.

The women I know who adore Palin typically express sharing her experience of being victimized and also identifying with her as being both 'a real mom' and having 'common sense', as well as believing in 'real American values' - which they cite as examples of her 'authenticity'. No need to argue with me about this since I'm of the opinion that much of this adoration results from confirmation bias and other ego defense mechanisms - none the less there's more than one historical example of how simplistic and seemingly irrational appeals to emotion and prejudice have produced totally unforeseen and socially destructive consequences.

Seems to me that when it comes to the way we're being governed there's an equally dysfunctional relationship and that this, when combined with the obvious inability of those in positions of political power to respond meaningfully to the challenges we're facing (which in the broadest sense equates to protecting us), is generating the sort of persistent sense of vulnerability and powerlessness that compels individuals into abject resignation and produces a culture of submissive victimhood.

I hear ya sistah! About the wife beating and all. Prolly getting worse with the economy. Whenever people, (esp men) feel powerless they seem to lash out, an indication of moral turpitude, if you ask me

As to nearly getting rear- ended, I've had it happen so many places, so many times, I don't associate with the freeway at all!
