Weh bus goes up in flames

bus afterAccording to a press release from the campaign of Republican gubernatorial candidate Allen Weh, his campaign bus, “Freedom1″ was destroyed in a fire Friday night while it was in a storage facility in Belen. The cause of the fire is still unknown, but the fire destroyed several other vehicles as well.

The bus was constructed for a “Ride to Remember 2002″ motorcycle rally which honored those lost in the 9/11 attacks.

“Most recently, Freedom1 was used to support Republican candidates running for office in New Mexico in 2008, and its artwork of stars and stripes became a regular fixture on New Mexico roads,” the press release stated.

The bus was a “mobile campaign headquarters” and was owned by Weh campaign coalitions director Tom Greer.
