Gary Johnson unveils new Web site

Gary Johnson’s new advocacy group, the Our America Initiative, has launched a new Web site. Some libertarians who support Johnson believe this is a way to get his name out in a national forum before a potential run for President.

The mission statement of the group reads:

OUR America Initiative seeks to broaden the parameters of the public policy debate of current topics in the national arena. We look to enlighten the population about civil liberties, free enterprise, limited government, and traditional American values. It is our aim to increase the amount of discussion and involvement regarding all-important issues.

Johnson, a libertarian-leaning Republican, served as governor of New Mexico for two terms before current two-term governor Bill Richardson.

The Web site features videos of Johnson outlining his views on various issues from the environment (he’s for conservation, but against cap and trade) to drugs (Johnson believes that marijuana should be legalized and regulated “like tobacco is currently”).

The group is a 501(c)(4) political advocacy committee.
