The entire state should be declared a disaster area, since quite apart from the effects of the last storm all of New Mexico is obviously in very dire straits as a result of the way in which it's been incompetently managed.

Where is Ken.? As in Mount Vernon, Ken?

Is this another idiosyncratic assault on the journalism profession? Or just an editor with no experience outside the entertainment weekly press? Or editors with so little knowledge of sociology, politics or cognition they don't understand how idiosyncratic style undermines standards, which in turn undermine the general confidence in civic institutions, which in turn undermines the rule of law Democrat publications so covet as a solution to personal problems among the people of the world?

The AP style for Kentucky, abbreviated, is Ky.. Kan. is Kansas.

If you don't have a style book, it's easy enough to google "state names AP style."
