While Democratic presumptive nominee Barack Obama is on vacation in Hawaii visiting family, his campaign has released a new ad entitled "Book." The ad is currently airing in New Mexico and other battleground states.
The ad hits Republican presumptive nominee John McCain on an area where Democrats hope McCain is vulnerable: the economy and his ties to current unpopular President George W. Bush.
The ad features a fake book called, "Economics" written by John McCain, and goes through the "chapters," which say McCain has supported President Bush "95 percent of the time" and accuse the war in Iraq of "hurting our economy."
The downbeat, somber music gives way to upbeat music when Barack Obama is shown with his economic plan. It also shows a URL where viewers can read Obama’s plan, www.BarackObama.com/issues.
The ad says that part of Obama’s plan is to "end the war responisbly" and to make sure there are "no more tax breaks for oil companies."
The end of the ad says, "Barack Obama: Putting the middle class first."
In December of last year, McCain was famously quoted as saying, "The issue of economics is not something I’ve understood as well as I should," while campaigning in New Hampshire."I’ve got Greenspan’s book," he joked at the time.
