umm....is this a serious question? First anyone who suggests that guns are innocuous is an imbecile. However, they are simply a tool, no more or less dngerous than say, a power tool. The danger as with all tools, is when held in human hands! Second the reason that firearms are not allowed in the roundhouse is obvious. The roundhouse, as with nearly all major government buildings is going to have it's own significant security, and thus negates the need for anyone to carry a weapon for protection.

As the issue in question is not ,whether lawful carrying of concealed weapons makes us safer, I'll comment on the pertinent issue. Should those with such permits be allowed to carry in an establishment that serves alchohol on the premises.First, those responding to this issue should, as all responsible citizens, take a look now and again at the actual laws, both proposed and enacted. As the proposaed bill states, this would only be allowed in establishments that serve beer and wine, limiting it to retaurants, and not all restaurants at that.Second, it is a legal condition for the possesion of a concealed carry permit, that the holder never carry while consuming alchohol. So the issue being raised by those with an abnormal fear of firearms is moot. While it's true that we have to rely upon an individuals' honour in this matter, the same goes for every person that we routinely sit, stand next to, or speak with. Those with the inclination to disobey the law, and do something stupid or dangerous with a firearm are the same people who will illegally carry a firearm, and they don't care when or where they do it!

We in Florida have had concealed carry licenses for decades. We can carry in most places except for bars, the portion of a restaurant that serves alcohol, banks and federal buildings. We coexist on the street,in restaurants, with law enforcement and the small number of the non carrying citizenry just fine.

I have a CCW permit issued in Florida. I have tried for some time to find out if I can legally carry a concealed weapon in NM using my Florida permit only. I am a NM resident now. Does anyone have a legal answer?

Whaaa: Think back to 1991. Remember the Luby's Massacre in Kileen Texas?

If you don't, let me refresh your memory. A crazy man drove his truck into a restraunt in broad daylight and started shooting people. A lady named Suzanna Gratia Hupp and her parents were in there. Suzanna had a pistol, but due to local "brain dead laws" it was in her car, as she was not allowed to carry in a restraunt. The man killed 23 people including her parents and wounded 30 others before killing himself.

This event doesn't sit well with me or anyone else that values their lives. Most people like me don't live under any illusions that police can be every and take care of every situation. Sometimes, seconds count...and police aren't everywhere. Think about that the next time you're out there eating a cheeseburger at Chili's...if you were in a restraunt and some psycho opned fire, wouldn't you want someone to stop him?

Seems like a no-brainer to me.
