During the legislative session lobbyists are required to tell the Secretary of State’s office how much money they spent on lawmakers within 48 hours of parting with the money. Today is the first day the information is available and so far six lobbyists have filed the reports. Here are the highlights from most spent to least so far in the session (click on the amount to see the full report):

  • $9,040.00 – Spent by Thomas Horan working for Presbyterian Health Services. Includes $7,840 on a cocktail dinner for all lawmakers at La Posada on Jan 20. The next day they spent $1,200 for breakfast.
  • $6,813.29 – Spent by Scott Smart from Eastern New Mexico University. The entire amount was spent on “drinks, snack to entertain various legislators and staff” at Inn and Spa at Loretto on Jan. 20.
  • $5,683.41 – Spent by lobbyist Chris Dunkenson. Entire amount spent on a “Legislative Appreciation Dinner” on Jan. 25. No location or client information was given. Dunkenson is listed by the Secretary of State’s office as working for Comcast and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. It’s unclear which client the dinner was for.
  • $3633.59 – Spent by Charles Bowyer working for National Education Association, New Mexico. The entire amount was spent on a legislative reception for the Governor and all legislators.  The address listed for the reception is the same as the one listed for NEA-New Mexico. The event took place on Jan 20.
  • $2574.49 – Spent by a lobbyist named Paula Maes working for New Mexico Broadcasters.  The entire amount was spent for “dinner” for legislators on Jan. 26. No location is given.
  • $2574.49 – Spent by a lobbyist Sonia Phillips. The entire amount was spent on a reception/dinner for all legislators at La Fonda on Jan. 26. Sonia Phillips is listed by the Secretary of State’s office as working for XCEL Energy.
