That was great, getting the Journal to do a big front-pager about how this rule was just devastating to NM gas production and revenues -- all in the middle of a big 'ol production glut! Now Big Bill's on his way out, so it sure ain't about making HIM happy. Industry didn't have it so bad with Richardson, either. Boys, this is your chance to start acting like grownups and stop treating everyone else like the dumbbells they're not. Here's the real deal: oil & gas is a big, important part of the mix. We're a producing state, longtime supporters of the industry. But guess what? That doesn't mean you get to do whatever you want, wherever you want, whenever you want. Speaking of want, what'll it be? Tribal or public, state or federal? Not one acre of it belongs to you, meaning you're not the ones who get to make all the decisions. When you do develop, follow the damn rules, pay what you owe, and give a little thought to the people who live out here, our livestock, way of life, and our future land, air, and water. Especially water. Even our good buddy Pat Lyons, who'd sneak out at midnight just to fork over the drilling rights to Bosque del Apache if he could, caught you cheating NM's trust funds.
