‘Add back’ bill back on House floor after failing last week

By | 02.09.10 | 1:07 pm

Rep. Al Park, D-Albuquerque, stood up this afternoon to bring back a revenue-enhancing bill that narrowly failed on Friday, 34-33. The motion by Republicans to table Park’s motion failed 26-40 and the bill was put back on the president’s table. This means that the bill can again be voted on whether or not to pass.

The Independent described HB 270 before the vote:

Also in the package is a measure called an “add-back” that would close a state income tax deduction for payment of federal income taxes available to New Mexico residents who itemize returns.

The bill can now be brought up to vote at the will of the Speaker of the House.
