Lobbyist contributions pass 50k for the session

Some are straight donations and others are for receptions–but no matter the reason the total amount is $52,276.46. That’s how much lobbyists working the 2010 legislature have spent on lawmakers.

During the legislative session, registered lobbyists are required to submit a report on money spent for lawmakers within 48 hours of spending it. The Independent continues to keep track of these reports to show where the money is going (You can see the first report here, the second here).

  • $2171.60 – Spent by Sarah Hoffman, a registered lobbyist for the Rocky Mountain Synod-Evangelical Lutheran Church in America out of Denver. The entire amount was spent an the ‘Annual Bishops Legislative Luncheon’ on Feb. 4th. The event was open to all legislators.
  • $1550.12 – Spent by Timothy Trujillo, a registered lobbyist for the New Mexico Association of Community Colleges (NMACC). The entire amount was spent for a legislative dinner at the Bull Ring in Santa Fe. The event was open to all legislators, NMACC presidents and guests.
  • $507.72 – Spent by J.D. Bullington, a registered lobbyist for 16 different organizations. The entire amount was spent on a dinner for Rep. Sandra Jeff, D-Crownpoint, and 7 guests at the Bull Ring restaurant in Santa Fe.
  • $500.00 – Spent by Leslie Padilla, a registered lobbyist for Molina Healthcare of New Mexico. The entire amount was spent on ’2010 American Indian Day and reception’. All legislators were invited.
