Finish health care, move onto jobs, Richardson tells Obama

Governor Bill Richardson attended the National Governor’s Association annual meeting in Washington D.C. this weekend and while there, he had some advice for President Barack Obama. Finish health care, then move onto the economy, Richardson said, according to an Associated Press article from Sunday.

While praising the White House’s communication’s efforts, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson offered this advice to Obama: “Rapidly decide what we’re doing on health care and then move to jobs and the economy.”

“We need a national economic strategy,” he added.

Today, Obama unveiled his health care proposal which largely follows the health care reform bill passed by the Senate on Christmas Eve.

The plan was released ahead of Thursday’s televised day-long health care summit where Obama will meet with Congressional Republicans and Democrats to discuss health care reform.

The Senate is expected to vote on a jobs bill today. However, the bill has been pared back after a bipartisan piece of legislation fell apart last week. Senate Republicans blamed Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid while Senate Democrats blamed Senate Republicans.
