According to Public Policy Polling’s official Twitter feed, Wednesday’s poll results will bring a mixture of bad and good news for New Mexico Democrats. Public Policy Polling, a Democratic polling firm, chose New Mexico and Texas as areas to poll this week. The polling firm, based in North Carolina, also conducted polling in North Carolina.

The tweet read:

Our New Mexico poll came out as a very interesting mix of good/bad news for Dems. Release starts tomorrow.

Of the choice to poll in New Mexico, Public Policy Polling wrote:

As I’ve said before I’m interested to see if the political climate has the Governor’s race here up in the air. And although I’m not going to promise this, because New Mexico has only 3 Congressional districts, we might be able to do a small sample poll (300-400 probably) within each of those as long as we’re doing the statewide one.

The polling will be the first independent electoral polling in New Mexico, including the first polling of the gubernatorial race which will pit Lt. Gov. Diane Denish, a Democrat, against one of five Republican contenders: Former state Republican Party chairman Allen Weh, state Rep. Janice Arnold-Jones, Doña Ana County District Attorney Susana Martinez, PR firm owner Doug Turner and attorney Pete Domenici Jr.
