Conservative group NOT pressuring Teague on health care (updated)

Updated:

Politico got the story wrong; the conservative non-profit is not currently airing ads in New Mexico’s 2nd Congressional District, they confirmed in an e-mail to the Independent.

Executive Director of the League of American Voters Bob Adams wrote:

Currently, we do not have ads running in Cong. Teague’s district. However, he is considered by us to be a possible swing vote. If we do go up with ads, they’ll be significantly different from the ads we are running against those who voted for healthcare last November. The Congressman should be applauded for voting “No” — we just want to make sure he stays a “No”. Again, currently, we do not have ads running in Cong. Teague’s district.

The original post is available below the fold.

A conservative nonprofit is airing ads pressuring conservative Democrats on health care, including Harry Teague, D-N.M. Teague represents the 2nd Congressional District in New Mexico and voted against a health care reform bill last year. However, 10 House Democrats who voted against the bill have not ruled out switching votes and voting for health care reform if it comes up again.

Politico reports that the League of American Voters are targeting these Democratic Representatives:

Reps. Mike Arcuri and Dan Maffei of New York; Christopher Carney, Paul Kanjorski and Kathleen Dahlkemper of Pennsylvania; Baron Hill of Indiana; Steve Kagen of Wisconsin; Alan Mollohan and Nick Rahall of West Virginia; Tom Perriello of Virginia; Mark Schauer of Michigan; Zach Space of Ohio; and Harry Teague of New Mexico.

A source tells Politico that it is “not a negligible level” of money being spent in each district.
