Domenici Jr. has raised over $300,000

Republican gubernatorial candidate Pete Domenici, Jr. announced today that he raised $40,000 since his last voluntary fundraising disclosure. Of that amount, the majority came from Prakash Sundaram, an Albuquerque-area hotelier, who gave $25,000 on March 5. Domenici has now raised over $300,000 for his gubernatorial campaign.

“I appreciate the continued support from people who see my candidacy for governor as an opportunity to solve the economical and ethical crisis that now confronts our state,” said Domenici, Jr. in a statement.

All of the contributions to the campaign of Domenici, Jr. are available at his Web site.

The site shows that the Domenici, Jr. campaign raised $145,995 in contributions that are dated from the beginning of March to the end of March. Campaign director Dough Antoon told The Independent that the campaign calculates the amount raised as only  $40,000, because the other $105,995 raised in March was reported on a previous dislcosure form.

Domenici, Jr., theson of former New Mexico U.S. Senator Pete Domenici, also touted a poll commissioned by his campaign from Dialing Services LLC, a Roswell-based firm.

That poll showed Domenici, Jr. with 30 percent of support of Republican voters, while former Republican Party chairman Allen Weh had 21 percent, Dona Ana County District Attorney Susana Martinez 17 percent, PR firm owner Doug Turner at 8.5 percent and State Representative Janice Arnold-Jones at 4.5 percent. However, all polling commissioned by a candidate must be taken with a grain of salt.

That poll, of 2,250 primary voters, was conducted in the course of two and a half hours, between the hours of 6:00 PM and 8:30 PM on March 22.

The next required finance report is due on April 12, where all statewide candidates will disclose their fundraising numbers. At that time, campaigns will also disclose their campaign expenditures, something that only Martinez and Democrat Diane Denish have done voluntarily.
