Denish reports raising $1.1 million in six months–updated

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Diane Denish announced Monday that she raised $1.1 million in the most recent fundraising period, bring her cash-on-hand to almost $2.6 million in advance of the November elections. Denish faces no opposition in the Democratic primary on June 1.

“I have a unique relationship with New Mexico families and they know that I’m on their side,” Denish said in a statement announcing the news. “Sure times are tough, but New Mexicans are tougher and together we’re going to turn this economy around and create the jobs that will fuel our state’s recovery.”

The fundraising period was from October 6 to April 5, though the Denish campaign did not solicit contributions during the legislative reglar session and special session, from January 1 to March 10.

Denish’s campaign said that 4,893 of the 8,400 contributions were $100 or less, which they point to as strong grassroots support.

The Denish campaign has raised a total of $3,945,026.40 in this campaign cycle, including $1,114,142.83 in the latest fundraising period. Denish was the first candidate to announce she was running for governor. Five Republicans are running for governor.

Today was the campaign fundraising filing deadline for candidates running for state office.

Update, 6:10 p.m:

Diane Denish’s full campaign financial report for the fundraising period is now available online at the Secretary of State’s Web site.
