Former state Republican Party chairman Allen Weh announced that he has raised nearly $1.3 million since entering the gubernatorial race in September.
The Associated Press reported on his numbers during the fundraising period from October to April 5:
Weh raised $691,003, with a half-million dollars of that from a personal loan, according to a summary released by the campaign. He previously had loaned his campaign $250,000.
Weh’s campaign spent $519,026 and received $48,843 worth of in-kind contributions. The campaign had a cash balance of $544,142 as of last week.
The campaign finance report is not yet available online at the Secretary of State’s Web site.
“This is the campaign of, and for, the people, and it really showed in this last report in the large number of small contributors,” Weh said in a statement. “We know it’s going to take millions of dollars and an army of volunteers to defeat Diane Denish in November, but we intend to do just that.”
Weh said that 1,300 donors contributed to his campaign, 1,000 of which donated $100 or less. Weh also says that more than half of the donors to his campaign came from outside of Albuquerque.
In the previous fundraising period, Weh reported raising $560,000 including a $250,000 loan to himself.
In addition to being the former Republican party chairman, Weh is the CEO of CSI Aviation Services, Inc. and a former Colonel in the United States Marines Corps Reserve.
