Next up in US Senate: Jobs bill, financial regulatory reform

By | 04.13.10 | 4:03 pm

According to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid Senate, the Senate will work on a jobs bill and financial regulation in the seven weeks before Congress goes on its Memorial Day recess. While Reid wants to work on some Obama nominees who have been waiting for confirmation, he doesn’t expect the Senate to look at immigration reform or a potential Supreme Court nominee.

Reid also mentioned Republican opposition when speaking to reporters.

“We have a lot of work to do,” Reid said during remarks at the Capitol following his party’s caucus luncheons. “And we’re dealing, everyone has to understand, with a party of no, that they’re trying to stop everything.”

The news that immigration reform would not be an issue this week was a change of tune from this weekend, when Reid said at a Las Vegas immigration rally that the Senate would take up immigration reform this week.
