After being convicted of felony counts of battery and burglary, Carol Sloan reportedly will try to remain as a commissioner on the Public Regulations Commission.

“She said she intends to stay on at this point,” PRC commissioner David King said according to the Albuquerque Journal.

Sloan’s attorney said that she intends on appealing the conviction.

However, Sloan, a Democrat, cannot run for reelection because of her felony conviction. Both the Democratic and Republican parties have called on Sloan to resign. Lt. Gov. Diane Denish has also called for Sloan’s resignation.
