California just rejected BC/BS rate request there. California actually did an analysis and found that the projected budget deficit information was incorrect and rejected the requested rate hike that was similarly outrageous to what NM just approved.

This really shows the PRC is completely incompentent and should reject what they approved and actually scrutinze BC/BS's claim that it is loosing $, yet has 6 billion in reserves.

BC/BS raised group rates 25% last year. This is especially ridiculous as the typical monthly take home pay is about a thousand bucks in NM.
I had so much hope with HCR and all I have seen is loopholes and status quo and worse.

Everyone thinks that transparency is the solution. All it does is expose shamelessness.
Who got a 20-25% raise this year? How are these price hikes in any way sustainable? Insurance could find more money by cutting Byzantine billing.

The parasite is killing the host. NM is afraid that it's abuser is going to leave? Don't let the door hit you in the a$$ on the way out. State single payer would cost less.

If BCBS pulled out of New Mexico or became insolvent, what would that cost the state?

How much blame for insurance rates fall directly on the state through mandates for specific coverage? Instead of being able to purchase a policy that meets our specific needs, we are forced to purchase policies that cover events and procedures that we don't need.

The state has a role in the insurance industry, particularly contract enforcement. Instead, they allow insurers to refuse to pay for legitimate covered events, forcing consumers to often hire lawyers to fight for their rights. If the state punished insurers with hefty fines for refusing legitimate claims, there would be less incentive for insurers to deny those claims.

Wow! A government agency afraid that BCBS will pull out. Why is that agency not afraid of the working poor who will pull out because of no jobs, no money, no rate increases for us. The government is suppose to be of the people, by the people and for the people not for big insurance companies and for big finance companies and for big car makers. Thank you for an awful lot of grief commissioners!!!!

You go into a public hearing knowing that an agreement for a rate hike is already in place? What kind of public service is this? Now we know why Richardson appointed Mo Chavez! Bardacke is in the back pockets of Richardson and BC&BS and was a worthless AG, should we be surprised? Can't expect the AG to stand-up for the consumers either! There's really no hope for these political hacks on the PRC!
