What are you doing this weekend? Me, oh I’m crocheting Barack Obama and John McCain finger puppets.

Apparently Sen. Obamas skin tone is tough to match in yarn.

Note the blue tie. Because he's a Democrat. Get it?

Kidding! I don’t know how to crochet. But today a major yarn company is giving away free patterns for little finger puppets that resemble the presidential candidates.

Frankly, McCain has the more flattering acrylic doppelganger. Obama’s Mini Me, with an ink stain for hair and a pink dash for a mouth, is not as charming as the real thing. (I suppose his big, toothy grin is too hard to execute on a finger-sized scale.)

The fuzzy version of Sen. McCain is, well, a little more warm and fuzzy, with a big smile and a thick head of white hair.

Go ahead, forward the patterns (for Obama and McCain) to Grandma/your friend Rosey Grier right now. And don’t be surprised if you get a little package from Nana/Rosey in the mail just before Nov. 4.

Odd, but this smile somehow seems more lifelike than the real thing...
