Sen. Domenici says tonight’s results reflects money spent

“This race was about money,” longtime U.S. Sen. Pete Domenici told the Independent. The longtime senator flew in for election night. He noted that the top two contenders for the GOP gubernatorial race — Susana Martinez and Allen Weh — had raised more than $1 million vs. more than a half a million dollars for his son, Pete Domenici Jr.

Domenici Jr. had about 5 percent of the absentee and early votes in Bernalillo County, according to the county’s website. Domenici Jr. said that the number of votes he had gotten matched some of his campaign’ internal polls toward the end.
