John Sanchez won the Republican primary for lieutenant governor on Tuesday night, beating out state Sen. Kent Cravens and former state Rep. Brian Moore in the Republican primary on Tuesday.
Sanchez, who was the GOP gubernatorial candidate in 2002, was projected to be the winner by media outlets Tuesday evening. As of this writing, Sanchez has 39.3 percent of the vote with 85 percent of precincts reporting in the state. Cravens had 32.5 percent and Moore had 28.3 percent of the vote.
Sanchez’s victory, and that of Susana Martinez, means the Republican Party will have an all-Hispanic ticket in November to face Diane Denish and Brian Colón.
