Today, Gov. Bill Richardson will join former presidential rival Sen. Hillary Clinton for the first time since he left the race in hopes of boosting Sen. Barack Obama’s chances in Florida. It’s part of a full-court press the Obama campaign is staging in the could-go-red-or-blue state.
Remember the scratch-your-eyes-out fit that former President Clinton and James Carville had when Richardson endorsed Obama over Sen. Clinton? He’s said his fences are mending with his former rival, although they may be irrevocably broken with her husband.
The onetime contenders are united through Wednesday in Florida to get Obama into the White House and will be encouraging voters to cast their ballots early — mostly in order to avoid the kind of Floridian ballot hijinks that sunk Al Gore’s presidential bid in 2000.
