Las Cruces city manager Terrence Moore Friday submitted a resignation letter , following a closed-session city council meeting about his position, Heath Haussamen reported.
As Haussamen reported for The Independent, Moore had come under fire for questioned business trip expenses and his decision to have an executive assistant babysit his child at work. He was also the subject of a Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department investigation two separate incidents, involving injuries to his ex-wife and prescription drugs.
The council has held repeated closed meetings in recent weeks to discuss Moore’s job. His resignation letter does not discuss the investigation or allegations against him.
Martinez told The Independent in March that the sheriff department investigation into Moore was not yet complete. Martinez said it would be inappropriate to make any decision or publicly release the sheriff’s department report because the investigation was still under way.
But Sgt. Joe Reynaud said the investigation had been completed and had been submitted to Martinez for her review.
