The state Canvassing Board is scheduled to meet Tuesday afternoon in Santa Fe to certify winners in the June 1 primaries. Winners will appear on ballots in the November general elections.
The three-member board is composed of Governor Bill Richardson, Secretary of State Mary Herrera and the state Supreme Court chief justice Charles Daniels.
Herrera’s office will launch an investigation into the improper and possibly illegal opening of approximately 10 ballot boxes June 4 by Rio Arriba County Clerk Moises Morales and members of his staff in Tierra Amarilla. But that investigation will occur after Tuesday’s certification of ballot returns, elections manager Don Francisco Trujillo said.
