The Santa Fe New Mexican reports State Auditor Hector Balderas says he’s stepping up expectations for audits in Santa Fe due to recent concerns about Santa Fe City Councilor Matthew Ortiz’s failure to disclose his involvement with an asphalt company that was recently rewarded a public-works contract.

The Alamogordo Daily News reports Premier Pellets, an Alamogordo company that produces wood shavings,  requested $241,000 from the city in economic development money, but will only receive $147,420 until the city comes up with a plan to cover the extra money.
