The New Mexico State Legislature’s Legislative Council today unanimously approved the webcasting of interim committee meetings, which are being held at the state capitol this year. According to NMPolitics.net, the webcasting will begin as soon as possible, NMPolitics.net reports.
It was Rep. Janice Arnold-Jones, R-Albuquerque, who had requested that interim committee meeting be webcast. During this year’s legislative session, Rep. Jeff Steinborn, D-Las Cruces, had pushed for webcasting of interim committees. Steiborn’s legislation passed the House but was not voted on in the floor of the Senate.
