APD Police Chief just told media that three people were killed in today’s violence at Emcore Corporation, including the shooter himself.

Officials said it is unclear whether the shooter’s girlfriend, and the apparent target of the shooting, is among those who are confirmed deceased.

Officials said they are not releasing the name of the shooter. “We are awaiting verification,” Schultz said.

“We believe it is a workplace domestic violence situation,” Schultz told a gaggle of reporters.

About 220 people were evacuated from the scene and surroundings and they are being debriefed, Schultz said. Children from a daycare center from across the scene were also evacuated.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims,” said Albuquerque mayor Richard Berry.

Schultz said the shooter had a handgun, but as for other weapons it’s unknown at this point.

Two shootings occurred outside the building in addition to the those that occurred inside the building, officials said.

UPDATED: Schultz said the target of the shooter had told co-workers that she had concerns, “domestic violence.” Schultz added that she had told colleagues that “she was going to report that to authorities.”

“This is the worst nightmare to have this in your community,” Schultz said.
