New Mexico once again apparently has missed the cut in the Obama administration’s Race to the Top program, which is doling out federal dollars to states adopted innovative approaches to K-12 education, The Wall Street Journal reported ahead of the official announcement, scheduled for later today.
New Mexico had applied for $75 million in this round — the second — in the Race to the Top program. New Mexico failed to make the finalists list during the first round as well.
The finalists are Arizona, California, Colorado, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and South Carolina.
