Federal judge strikes down California’s Proposition 8

A federal judge has ruled that gays and lesbians have a constitutional right to marry in California, the Los Angeles Times is reporting.

U.S. District Chief Judge Vaughn R. Walker struck down Proposition 8 today in a ruling that said the measure that California voters passed in November 2008 violated the constitutional rights of gays and lesbians to marry who they wanted to, according to the paper.
