Los Alamos’ environmental cleanup pricetag: $1.7 billion

Los Alamos National Laboratory hopes to spend $1.7 billion to complete the environmental cleanup by a 2015 deadline, with about half that cost coming from four master contracts scheduled to be let this spring, according to the Santa Fe New Mexican.

The paper goes on to explain the main areas covered by the new contracts are waste management, waste characterization, processing and nuclear operations, environmental services and technical services.
