A recent Canadian medical study of chronic pain sufferers concluded that smoking marijuana three times a day reduces pain, improves mood, and helps sleep. The clinical trial had 23 subjects and used marijuana obtained from Prairie Plant Systems Inc. (Saskatoon, Sask.) and the United States National Institute of Drug Abuse.
Canadian researchers studied three different blends of marijuana, of varying strengths, as well as a placebo. Researchers stated that more, larger research studies are needed on the medicinal effects of smoking marijuana, and that they believed their methodology could be considered for future research.
