Lack of infrastructure stifles wind energy

Although consumers, industry groups and governments are embracing renewable energy, the country isn’t yet delivering as much as it could because of a lack of transmission lines an other infrastructure needed to get the power from point A to point B.

As The Washington Independent reported Wednesday, utility companies are fighting over who’s going to pay for the poles and wires, and the federal government hasn’t so far been a very effective referee.

“While a broad energy bill authored by Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D-N.M.) addressed some electric transmission issues, those provisions are not expected to come up for a vote in the Senate this year,” TWI’s Andrew Restuccia wrote. “
