Teague’s seat less precarious than previously thought

Back in April, Harry Teague appeared to be a dead man. According to the National Journal, he was the House member 8th most likely to lose his seat. In July he dropped slightly to 11th and by September he slipped further to 14th. But this week he’s fallen to 27th.

The freshman Democrat from Hobbs is still in a tough fight as the campaign season ramps up. His Republican opponent, Steve Pearce, spent three terms as the Representative from southern New Mexico. He’s a more powerful and practiced public speaker than Teague, who has been reluctant to hold freeform debates on TV, preferring to stick to single-issue radio debates.
