Gubernatorial debate focuses on jobs, economy

By | 09.27.10 | 8:17 am

Democrat Diane Denish and Republican Susana Martinez tangled Sunday in the second gubernatorial debate held at Congregation Albert in Albuquerque. Unlike the first debate, which focused on education, Martinez and Denish talked about jobs and the economy, and took a few detours to touch on a few other issues.

Jim Williams of KUNM summed up the debate this way.

Martinez, as she did in the first debate last month, tried to tie Denish to Governor Bill Richardson, who Martinez said grew the state budget unsustainably over the past seven years. Denish blasted Martinez’s television ads, calling them a distraction from the real issues in the race, and said Martinez doesn’t have a plan for creating jobs.

You can listen to the entire debate here.
