Heinrich leads Barela 50-43, Daily Kos/PPP poll says

Freshman Democratic Congressman Martin Heinrich holds a significant lead over his Republican challenger Jon Barela according to a Daily Kos/PPP poll released today. The poll’s margin of error is 4.2 percent.

According to the results:

  • Women prefer Heinrich over Barela by 10 points; Men prefer Heinrich by 3
  • Independents prefer Barela by 6 points
  • 90 percent of liberals say they’d vote for Heinrich; 77 percent of conservatives say they’ll vote for Barela; Heinrich takes the moderates 58-39
  • The two run about even with white voters, but Hispanics like Heinrich better (49-42)
  • Heinrich has good favorables; 52 percent of voters have a favorable opinion of him while only 38 view him unfavorably; Barela has 40 percent favorable and 35 percent unfavorable
