President Barack Obama continues to have decent approval ratings while Gov. Bill Richardson’s approval ratings continue to be, well, horrible. That’s according to the latest Rasmussen Reports poll.
The poll found that 50 percent of likely voters approve of the way that Obama is doing his job compared to 49 percent who disapprove.
For Richardson, the numbers are not as good. Just 34 percent approve of the way that Richardson is doing his job including just 12 percent who strongly approve. And 64 percent disapprove of the way that Richardson is doing his job.
For Richardson, there is trouble among virtually every demographic. A majority of every age group except for 18-29 disapprove of Richardson’s job performance (though, strangely, zero percent of those 18-29 “strongly approve” of his job performance).
Democrats are also still, somewhat, in Richardson’s corner. Democrats approve job performance by a 57 percent to 44 percent margin (rounding accounts for totals above 100 percent).
Obama has the biggest problems with Republicans; 84 percent strongly disapprove of his job performance and another 9 percent somewhat disapprove. Among Democrats, 78 percent approve of his job performance to 20 percent who disapprove.
Of those who are still undecided in the gubernatorial race, 87 percent approve of Obama’s job performance and just 14 percent disapprove.
The poll finds that 43 percent of those in the Republican Party consider themselves part of the tea party movement. Just 6 percent of Democrats say the same thing.
The poll of 750 likely voters and was conducted on September 29. It has a margin of error of +/- 4 percent.
